Photo Exhibition on Andrei Gromyko’s 110th Birth Anniversary
On 18 July 2019, the Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Kathmandu opened a photo exhibition devoted to the 110th Anniversary of an outstanding diplomat and statesman Andrei Gromyko who headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR from 1957 to 1985 and was the Chairperson of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1985-1988.
In 1944, being the Ambassador of the USSR in the USA, A.Gromyko headed the Soviet delegation at the international conference in Dumbarton Oaks, Washington which was the venue for discussion of establishment of the United Nations. He took part in preparation of the Tehran conference in 1943, Yalta and Potsdam conferences in 1945. A.Gromyko headed the Soviet delegation which signed the United Nations Charter at the conference in San Francisco.
The RCSC held a talk programme about Andrei Gromyko’s carrier, research work, family, hobbies and the way of life as well as demonstrated photo copies of the most important documents and agreements signed with this direct participation. After the opening ceremony readers of RCSC’s library attended a lecture about the Soviet diplomat.
