Brave Russians hoisted Victory Banner at the Everest Base Camp.

Sergey Valigursky and Anton Selyanichev from Moscow and Dmitry Moiseenko from Kislovodsk are united not only by the membership in the Russian Mountaineering Federation, but also by the long-standing friendship and by being mountain lovers.

Our compatriots’ achievements are truly amazing.

They have summited such peaks as Elbrus, Belukha and the Indonesian volcano Ijen. This time, the Russian climbers conquered another height – they have successfully ascended the legendary Everest Base Camp and dedicated their success to the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory.

Their difficult and challenging campaign was preceded by a long preparation that was assisted by the Russian Embassy in Nepal. Thanks to that and due to the indomitable spirit and steadfast will of the Russian climbers, this harsh challenge was overcome in one breath. The culmination of the campaign was the hoisting of the provided by the Embassy Victory Banner at the altitude of 5364 m. The summit was completed in accordance with the schedule. Nepali attitude towards Russian athletes throughout the trip remained favorable and extremely respectful, even despite the attempts of the Ukrainian diplomats to organize an anti-Russian campaign in the field of mountaineering in Nepal.

The Russians have once again become convinced of the famous Nepali hospitality. The climbers returned safely back to Kathmandu, where they met with the staff of the Russian Embassy. The guests of the diplomatic mission expressed their desire to take part in a patriotic flashmob being prepared on the territory of the Embassy.
