On the VI World Congress of Compatriots
The VI World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad was held in Moscow on 31 October – 1 November 2018.
More than 400 delegates from 98 countries, including the Chairperson of the Association of Russian Compatriots in Nepal Mrs. Natalia Oli, took part in the event. Also, more than 300 heads and representatives of federal and regional authorities, nongovernmental organizations and mass media addressed and attended discussion panels of the Congress.
The opening session of the event was marked by the speeches of President of Russia Vladimir Putin (the text of the speech: http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/59003) and Chairman of the Government Commission on Compatriots Living Abroad, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov (the text of the speech: https://bit.ly/2RSrW8k).
Within the framework of the programme of the Congress, the participants presented their reports during the thematic panels on issues of protection of compatriots’ rights and legal interests, preservation of the Russian identity and support of education in Russian, the role of the youth and mass media in consolidation of the community, participation of compatriots in economic cooperation between Russia and foreign countries.
During the closing plenary meeting, the participants adopted final documents: recommendations of the panels and the resolution of the Congress (the resolution in Russian: https://bit.ly/2qUUqTH).
