Country Conference of the Association of Russian Compatriots in Nepal

On 8 December, the Association of Russian Compatriots in Nepal (ARCN) held the country conference “The role of the Association of Russian Compatriots in preservation and dissemination of the Russian culture in Nepal” in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Kathmandu.

Charge d’Affaires a.i. of Russia in Nepal Yury Yuzhaninov took part in the event. In his speech, he noted involvement of local Russian diaspora in the life of our country and underlined importance of further strengthening of compatriots’ ties with Russia, preservation of the Russian language and ethno-cultural identity.

President of the ARCN Natalia Oli presented a report on Association’s activities in 2018 and her participation in the VI World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad.

Director of the RCSC Yulia Androsova expressed gratitude to the ARCN for active participation in events of the Cultural Centre and Russian Embassy and noted the role of the youth in development of the compatriots’ movement. Also, she underscored the necessity of further consolidation of the Russian-speaking community in Nepal.

Within the framework of the conference, there was held an award ceremony for children of compatriots who won in the art competition “I am drawing Russia”.
