Cosmonaut Viktor Savinykh visited Nepal

The delegation of the Society of Cooperation and Friendship with Nepal, headed by the cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Savinykh, visited Nepal on 19-24 April 2019.

On 22 April 2019, during the meeting with Russian Embassy’s staff Viktor Savinykh related about his experience of space flights and the orbital station “Salyut-7” rescue operation performed together with Vladimir Dzhanibekov in 1985.

On 22-23 April 2019, he held a press conference, gave an interview to the Nepali mass media and, as the President of the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, had a meeting with alumni of his university and other members of the Association of Nepali Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities “Mitra Kunj”.

On 24 April 2019, the cosmonaut Viktor Savinykh and the mayor of Kathmandu Bidya Sundar Shakya unveiled the bust of the first human in outer space Hero of the Soviet Union Yuri Gagarin in Ratna Park.
